    02.06.12 – Dueling Reactions

Join hosts Kevin and Young John for a very “divisive” edition of the web’s only Punk Rock ‘n Wrestling podcast. This week’s topic is wrestlers who have figuratively split audiences in two. First, hear the guys talk about Hulk Hogan’s place as both the top heel AND top babyface in TNA – and why this could be helpful to the Impact product. Then, the discussion turns again to internet darling, Daniel Bryan. Find out why a seemingly innocuous line uttered by Michael Cole might signal a brighter future for the former “American Dragon.” A can’t-miss feud with John Cena might not be so far off!

Musically speaking, you’ll dig into tracks from Go to the Police, the long out-of-print (and only) recording from U.K. power pop act, The Toys. PLUS: music from Mat Minutiae’s Mike Bessler and BSH’s own Kevin McElvaney. Yes, you read that right!

If you listened to ITR this week (why wouldn’t you?) they brought up a very good point I think a lot of people agree with which is that in the top two promotions, the two biggest and most well crafted feuds just happen to revolve around people no one gives a damn about. This leads to two questions. First, why are they doing it? And secondly, why can’t they put all that effort somewhere else where it is needed? Continue reading → Post ID 8322

  • IN THE ROOM with Larry Zbyszko

This week, “The Living Legend” himself, Larry Zbyszko steps IN THE ROOM with Brady Hicks, DJ, and Kevin McElvaney to look back at his more than 30 year career in the wrestling business. Check it out as Zbyszko looks back on mentoring under (and turning on) Bruno Sammartino, his war of words with Chris Jericho, the instrumental role he played in WCW’s rise and the New World Order’s emergence, and his thoughts on how to change the business for the better. Plus, the guys offer their WrestleMania thoughts and predictions.

On Keeping Up With The Business:
To be honest, I just don’t find wrestling entertaining the way it is right now. I just don’t watch it. I wish it was better for the new generation, it could be great but they make the guys look like morons. I just don’t watch it because it’s all silly. There’s no suspense. You can see the same crap you saw tonight any night. Boring. They’ve just gotten stale because what they are doing today is the same thing they were doing 15 years ago. I can honestly say for any of these young guys coming up that I can see why they’d rather get involved in that Ultimate Fighting.

WrestleMania is almost upon us and the buzz is nowhere near stopping with changes and adjustments still being made. Some are looking forward to it. Some think the wheels have fallen off over the last few weeks. I’m trying to stay positive and think this years may actually suprise people. Here is why. Continue reading → Post ID 8322

Ever since the Rock came back a few weeks ago everyone has been getting pumped about WrestleMania and what his role will be. Unfortunately no one knows his role despite everyone on RAW never shutting their mouths talking about it. His return has gone from being something of great excitement to really adding nothing major to the current WWE. And really that is true of all the big name returns so far.
